UPDATE / 9:56pm PST, July 6, 2010: KABC-TV *VIDEO* of today’s court hearing
UPDATE / 9:27pm PST, July 6, 2010:
The Los Angeles Times website has just posted a new story about the Juliana Redding murder case. The headline: “Judge freezes bank accounts of 3 people tied to suspect in model’s killing.” *As I read the Times story, I count bank accounts connected to 4 (four) people. The thrust of the story is based on a “disclosure” made during today’s court hearing for Redding’s accused killer, Kelly Soo Park.
Three excerpts from the Times‘ latest story:
1.
“A judge has frozen the bank accounts of three people connected to a woman accused of murdering an aspiring model in 2008, an attorney said Tuesday.” -LA Times
2. (*This is the excerpt wherein I count 4-people allegedly connected to the frozen bank accounts)
“At Tuesday’s hearing, (Kelly Soo) Park’s attorney acknowledged that bank accounts connected to the defendant, her mother, (Dr. Munir) Uwaydah and a second man who was arrested with Park but released were all frozen at the request of the district attorney’s office.
“I don’t know why they froze them,” said Park’s attorney, Kay Rackauckas. ‘It’s all a big secret.’” -LA Times
3.
Multiple attempts by The Times to reach the victim’s father, Greg Redding, about his business dealings with Uwaydah have been unsuccessful. -LA Times

Media reports regarding today’s court appearance by the lone person charged in the Juliana Redding murder case are just now beginning to emerge online. The website wavenewspapers.com has just published a story (by “wire services”) stating that Kelly Soo Park has pleaded not guilty to the murder.
Based on this reporter’s years on the court beat, not guilty pleas at the onset of a court case are more formality than revelation.
As for Ms. Park’s bail situation and next court appearance, wavenewspapers.com reports:
“Park — who remains jailed on $1 million bail — is due back at the Airport Branch Courthouse in Los Angeles on July 20 for a hearing to determine if her bail should be increased to $5 million.” -wavenewspapers.com
