Update (5:57 pm PST / June 28, 2010): Judge warns attorneys in Santa Monica model slaying case not to leak information to media (Los Angeles Times blog)
“Last week, The Times obtained a bail motion stating that defendant Kelly Soo Park received hundreds of thousands of dollars in payments from a physician who was in a foundering business deal with the victim’s father.
‘I don’t know how that got printed in the L.A. Times,’ said Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz. ‘Unless there’s an invisible person … somebody gave it to them.’” -Los Angeles Times blog

The first video of the woman now at the center of the Juliana Redding murder investigation appeared on the Internet today. KABC-TV’s web report on this morning’s bail hearing included reporter Sid Garcia’s live shot from outside the courtroom in Del Aire. Garcia wasted little time tossing to some b-roll of this morning’s proceedings. Garcia reported that Ms. Park appeared to be weeping while looking at her supporters in the courtroom.
Here’s an excerpt from the story’s text on abc7.com:
‘The prosecution requested that her (Park’s) bail be raised from $1 million to $5 million. The judge, however, decided to not allow Park to post bail at all after explaining that bail information is not supposed to be released to the public until a hearing takes place.
‘You can’t be allowed until a hearing is rendered, because I have to make a finding that if you do seek to bail out, that the source of the funds is a legitimate source of money,’ the judge explained in court.
Park’s arraignment has been postponed until July 6. Park faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted.” -KABC-TV / abc7.com
